Karen Wolfe - "Stuttering"

Karen Wolfe's "Stuttering" is a masterpiece. The wife knew something wasn't right but she trusts her man with everything she's got.  Her husband gets a letter in the mail and she realizes that he's been lying to her all this time.  And, of course, she can tell he's lying because he starts stuttering when she confronts him! But the hurt is what comes through in her words.  You can feel it when she asks "when were you going to tell me???"  I love this song and the questions that Karen asks.  Is this your baby?  How long have you known? Were you gonna wait until he started walking? Or were you gonna wait until he got grown? Does this girl even know about me? Does she know about the other two kids that you already have? What about our future?  Are you sure he's yours - did you test his DNA?  I listened to this over and over so I could get the words right and I think the message is powerful.

And how is it that mama always knows???

Karen Wolfe has a lot of great music but this is on my list of favorites.
--------------
Oh the mailman just came through
And brought a letter addressed to you
It was forwarded from your old address
I was nosey so I opened it
It says I hope that you are doing fine
The baby asks about you all the time
He says he miss you and I miss you too
My mama says this boy looks just like you
Oh I had a feeling, I had my doubts
Some money missing out the bank account
Oh and it hurt to think, you and another girl
And then you brought a child into this world
I was a fool, I trusted you
And now my heart feels like it's broke in two
I saw the signs but was too blind to see
That you done had a baby on me

Chorus
Is this your baby
Don't stand there and lie to me
Cause I can always tell when you're telling a lie
Cause you start stuttering (you're lying, you're lying)
When were you gonna tell me
And tell me, how long have you known
Were you gonna wait until he started walking
Or when he got grown...you lying

Does she know about me, probably not
Or the other two kids that you already got
What about our future, you messed up the plan
Cause you couldn't keep it inside your pants
Did you even test the DNA
Or are you just going by what she say
Oh I hope you realize what you've done
You got me looking like the foolish one

Do you think I'll leave, turn and walk away
Or do you think I'm stupid?  I know you're sorry
My mama told me to leave you alone
But I defended you, I see I was wrong
So tell me now, if you cannot lie
I'm over here can't you look me in the eye
You've got one more time to tell me something
Is she lying, were you with her, is it yours, oh is this your baby

Chorus

Do you think I'll leave, turn and walk away
Do you think I'm stupid?  I know you're sorry
My mama told me to leave you alone
But I defended you, I see I was wrong
So tell me now, if you cannot lie
I'm over here can't you look me in the eye
You've got one more time to tell me something
Is she lying, were you with her, is it yours, oh is this your baby

Chorus
You keep stuttering...

David Brinston - "Kick It"

You may not hear a lot about David Brinston but I love his music. "Kick It" is from his 2001 "Fly Right" CD and it will make you want to dance!

Here's his bio as taken from allmusic.com:
Fun-loving R&B singer/songwriter David Brinston was born in Marks, Mississippi in 1959. He grew up performing gospel with his brothers and sisters, and in his early thirties he emerged with his own solo material, signing with Memphis, Tennessee label Jomar Records. Throughout the early '90s he scored several regional hits, with his biggest hit being 1993's "Two Way Love Affair." With a style informed by such soul figureheads as Al Green and Tyrone DavisBrinston wrote and recorded songs at a furious clip, releasing new albums for various labels almost annually throughout the mid-'90s, 2000s, and beyond. Highlights were many, including the party-loving atmosphere of both 2001's Fly Right and 2008's Party Time. Along with touring the circuit of Southern summer festivals, Brinston would stay active into the 2010s with his irreverent and celebratory R&B styles, releasing a collection of hits in 2014 and Sidepiece Motel, an album of brand-new material, in 2017.

O. B. Buchana - "Parking Lot Love Affair"

Raise your hand if you know what O. B. is talking about!  He met this girl at the grocery store and I guess there was an instant attraction because they didn't make it past the back seat of his car in the parking lot.  Pretty risky!

Sometimes in this life you’re blessed to find someone to step in and help when you make a call.  I attended my niece’s graduation from Penn State this weekend and it was held at 6:30 p.m., right when I needed to listen to WDLT.  Because of the conflict, I knew I wouldn't be able to catch The Countdown so I recruited my nephew, Brian, to help me out.  This Hattiesburg, Mississippi, young man loves southern soul and was more than happy to listen to WDLT and keep track of the top 10 for me.  He did a great job!  So, here’s Saturday’s countdown as recorded by Brian.  Thank you my nephew!! I love you!!💕

Big G - "Tell Me Can You Feel It"

Big G says that he wants to talk about feelings - about being with someone that you almost know what they want before they say what they want. He says it's the feeling you have when you just see them and a smile just comes upon your face and you know they're feeling the same way, too.  I know that's right!

What a sexy, love song!

All day long you've been on my mind, girl, you're my one and only desire
