Lee Shot Williams - "Everything I Like To Eat Starts With A P" (X-Rated Version)

Oh man, I hadn't heard this song in a while!  Definitely not for the ears of my kids. lol  I'm going to apologize in advance for the lyrics - I could only find the X-rated version of this song.  Hmm, never thought about all the things out there to eat that start with a p....pot roast, pork chops, pizza, etc.

She gave me a piece of potato pie!

Karen Wolfe and Sir Charles Jones - "You Think I'm Wrong"

When relationships go bad, one person always thinks they're right and the other person is always wrong.  Seems like there's blame on both sides. I like when she says if anybody's leaving here, it's you! I think they recognize their problems here and I believe they'll kiss and make up!  Real life!

Karen Wolfe and Sir Charles Jones!  Yes!!!!!

You think I'm wrong, I think I'm right
And all we seem to do is fuss and fight
If anything is wrong baby in my home
Either we're going to fix it or we try to roll on

Ms. Diva Dee - "Saddle Up On It"

She's looking for a man who knows how to ride - she wants to take him out to her stable so she can see what he has.  Well... Definitely grown folks music but lyrics aside, there's something about the beat and melody of this song.  Kind of catchy and dance worthy.

What do you think?

Archie Love - "Loving On Borrowed Time"

Does this sound like southern soul or what???  Infidelity, yes, but oh what a pretty ballad.  They didn't plan to fall in love but they know they can't keep sneaking around.  They're going to slip up one day, it's just a matter of time.  Alright you guys, better get it together!!!

Mose Stovall - "Sneakin"

I heard this the other night and it kind of blew me away.  It's a sad breakup song but it's still pretty!  It's beautiful southern soul and I could listen to him sing all night! lol

While you were out on your rendezvous, I found me another to replace you...

I found Mose Stovall's bio on the Blues Critic website (www.soulbluesmusic.com).
Stovall began working as an artist at Magic City Hitsville Record, which he helped co-found Music Makers Recording Studio. There, he utilized his skills in songwriting and background singing for many of Birmingham's aspiring artists. In August 2003, Mose released his soulful R&B solo CD entitled, "Private Party", with such hits as "Hold You", "The Problem Is You", "Good Lovin", "Dance", and "Can't Stand". But, he loves to sing all the cover tunes from various artirts such as Luther Vandross, Anthony Hamilton and Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly. In December 2005, he was the opening act for The Blues Legend Willie Clayton. His second album was released in 2007.

BTW, the Blues Critic is a fantastic source of southern soul info - please check it out!!

Nellie "Tiger" Travis - "Baby Baby Baby"

The lyrics here are simple but boy is this a really cute song and the melody couldn't be better!  I love Nellie and her voice is strong and awesome - she can sing!!!

I think about you baby all day long
The way you put it on me baby
I can't leave you alone
I don't have time to hang out with my friends
Cause all I want to do is get with you again

Chorus
Baby, baby, baby
So in love with you
Baby, baby, baby
Crazy over you

Every time we get together
I feel so good inside
I'm filled with emotions I just can't hide
You know you got me acting like a child
Come on baby, come on
Come on and drive me wild, yes

Chorus

Oh how we carry on making love all night long

Chorus

Enjoy!

Wendell B - "If You Don't Know"

What a beautiful song!!!  I love when he says, "If you don't know nothing, know I love you!"  Wendell said that there have been a lot of ups and downs.  He said that every time the wind would blow, they would hold on a little tighter.  And somehow they got back up.

I love this man!

O.B. Buchana - "Looks Like It's Over"

What a sad but beautifully sung ballad by O.B.  It's another case of a good relationship that's gone bad.  And you know, this happens and it does hurt but sometimes it's best to know when it's time to say goodbye and end things.  But he shows how the girl kind of crazy in the end. lol People, just walk away.  Here are the lyrics:

Waking up in a heart of pain
My baby’s gone with another man
If you only knew how it hurt so bad
Especially, she ain’t coming back

The other night you know we had a fight
We both could tell something just wasn’t right
Accusing me, me accusing you
Let’s end it baby, let’s say we’re through

Chorus
Look like it’s over
Look like it’s over
Look like it’s over
I don’t care what you do
Ain’t no more of me and you

Tears in my eyes now I know the truth
She plays the game better than I do
I can’t eat I can’t sleep
I can’t believe my baby’s leaving me

The other night you know we had a fight
We both could tell something just wasn’t right
Accusing me, me accusing you
Let’s end it baby, let’s say we’re through

Chorus

See baby, seeing after all we’ve been through
You accusing me and me accusing you
See sometimes there’s some good in goodbye
So I guess it’s best that we go our separate ways

The other night you know we had a fight
We both could tell something just wasn’t right
Accusing me, me accusing you
Let’s end it baby, let’s say we’re through

Chorus

She keyed up my car, oh yeah, put sugar in my tank
Throw brick through my windowpane
Ah yeah, the girl went insane

I don’t care what you do, ain’t no more of me and you...

Cathe's Classic Pick of the Week was my home guy, Frank Mendenhall, and "Shont Dont Dont!"

And Cathe had another great in-studio guest tonight - Sir Charles Jones!!!!  Wow!  He said that he has a new album that should be released in about two more months and it will be a live album titled "The Masterpiece" (or Masterpieces). He also said that this may be his last album!!  Oh no - say it ain't so!!  I really hope he'll rethink that thought and change his mind.  Thanks Cathe for another great interview!
Congratulations to Sir Charles Jones/Wendell B for another week at #1.

Happy Throwback Thursday!  Here are three absolutely fantastic songs from back in the day.  Linda Jones was amazing and we lost her when she was so young.  I simply adore "Hypnotized!"  Here's also "Sugar Daddy" by Tyrone and the best ever live performance of "Tonight Is The Night" by Betty Wright.  Great stuff!!

Jesse Graham - "Love Talk"

Now this is what southern soul sounds like!!!  I just love it.  It's smooth and a great blue-lights-in-the basement kind of song.  I did a post on this almost two years ago (see http://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2015/09/jesse-graham-love-talk.html).  You also know Jesse Graham from "Mr. Mailman" (see http://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2011/11/jesse-graham-mr-mailman.html) and "I Lied" (see http://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2012/06/jesse-graham-i-lied.html). Great music!

Cathe's Classic Pick of the Week was "Nobody Wants You (When You're Down and Out)" by Bobby Womack!! Thanks to WDLT for spotlighting Bobby Womack all day today - it's his birthday!!  He was born on this day in 1944 and died on June 27, 2014.  Bobby Womack is a legend who left us with a lot of great music and wonderful memories -  his contribution to our lives is endless.

It was great listening to Wendell B who was in the studio with Cathe B!  Love that man!  He even has two songs in the top 10, including the #1 song!! During Cathe's interview, we found out that Wendell B has a special guest singing with him on "Where Were You Last Night" - it's his son!!  A proud Dad!  Great interview!

Now I know I missed last week, but when did Wilson Meadows' "Can You Hang" return?  It was released in 2014 on his "Tighten Up" album; looks like it's making a huge comeback!
